SOS Children's Villages Faisalabad

SOS Children's Village Faisalabad was opened in 1988. It is situated on a 57-Knals site on west canal road. The land was donated by the Government of Punjab and many local philanthropists funded the family homes.

Formerly known as Lyallpur, Faisalabad is a city in the province of Punjab in Pakistan. It is the third largest city in Pakistan after Karachi and Lahore. Faisalabad is famous for its Textiles and is called the Manchester of Pakistan as well.

As in every location we work, SOS Children’s Village Faisalabad is dependent on the community for its support, as their involvement is vital for our operation and expansion. Functions are arranged regularly by various donors and are greatly enjoyed by the children; as are outings to interesting sites.

The SOS youth home was opened in 1997 in a building donated for this purpose. The Village is well-established and, over the years, has benefited from upgrades and additions to the facilities, including renovation of the administrative offices and the addition of a spacious auditorium.

The first block of the SOS primary school was completed in 1995 and all the classes have been functioning in this building since then. The girls’ high school has also been completed recently, whilst the boys’ high school was opened in March 2014.

Overall, the Faisalabad Village has been an immensely successful project with over 200 orphans and abandoned children being cared for and 250 children studying in the SOS school.
